Duties:  Operates sewage treatment plant and equipment in a manner that ensures adequate treatment of wastewater in accordance with NPDES permit and other DEP/EPA requirements. Responsible for daily Wastewater related tasks, including start-up: ensuring system is producing clean water; mechanical/chemical trouble shooting; calibration; adjustment/repair of diaphragm pumps & other mechanical components; maintain chemical inventory and prepare requisitions; perform solution maintenance on aqueous washers in heat treat.  Performing mechanical and chemical troubleshooting of system when water is not clean.  Maintain a chemical inventory, checking and changing chemicals.  Using a computer to print out daily flow/Ph.  Emptying and cleaning filter press as required.  Take care of sludge removal.  Keep a detailed logbook on routine and abnormal conditions.  Assist municipal and contracted technicians or inspectors on audits and sample collections.  Coordinate hazardous waste pickup and disposal.  Job requires the use of a fork truck on a regular basis.
