Essential Functions
· Oversee operations and maintenance of wastewater treatment systems and
related equipment and components including, but not limited to, the following:
Chemical metering pumps, centrifugal transfer pumps, “other”pump types;
Calibrate and standardize pH
· Calibrate and troubleshoot various flow measuring devices
· Understand how to properly maintain various Programmable Logic Control

PRETREATMENT COORDINATOR Lowell Regional Wastewater Utility
The Lowell Regional Wastewater Utility is seeking a professional to manage the daily activities of its industrial pretreatment program. This is a challenging position in a dynamic work environment with excellent growth opportunities. The successful candidate will possess strong technical and administrative skills. Proficiency in project management, technical writing, and mathematical calculations is necessary. Wastewater treatment experience is desired. A bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, environment studies, or comparable is preferred. Salary range is $45 – 52 K, depending upon experience. Our facility located in Rockland, MA is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Operator-In-Training. This is an excellent entry level wastewater treatment position.
Position Description:
Performs daily rounds and visual inspections of plant equipment and pump stations
Operates and adjusts wastewater treatment plant equipment such as pumps, valves, motors, blowers, and de-watering equipment
Monitors all charts, gauges and adjusts chemical feed rates as required.
Responsible for housekeeping and maintaining facility grounds

Our facility in
Lynn,
MA is currently
seeking qualified candidates for the position of Operations Supervisor. The
Operations Supervisor plans, schedules, directs and performs a variety of
administrative and technical tasks in the operation, maintenance, repair and
calibration of the equipment, instruments, processes and support systems of an
industrial facility’s complex storm water collection and treatment system.
Project Description:
The
Lynn project is a storm water monitoring and sample
collection operation. Candidate would be responsible for administrative and
technical supervision of the storm water pollution prevention program, working
at the direction of the Site Environmental Engineer. This is a fulltime position
with a Monday through Friday 8 hour day shift schedule, with possible weekend
work as conditions warrant.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
The work area can involve exposure to inclement weather, loud noise, active
machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical shock and vibration, confined
spaces, heights and depths, fumes, air borne particles, toxic and explosive
gases, infection and blood-borne pathogens. Must be able to sit, stand, stoop,
twist and bend at the waist, turn, kneel, squat, raise arms above shoulder
height, grasp, reach, perform repetitive hand movements and fine coordination
when preparing reports and using a computer keyboard, have vision sufficient to
read computer screens, printed documents and operate office equipment, have
hearing in the normal range with or without correction. In an 8-hour shift must
be able to transport self across the facility, ascend and descend stair steps,
lift objects up to 50 pounds from floor level to waist height, wear and use
appropriate safety equipment.
Basic Qualifications:
• High School/GED
• 2+ years technical training in mechanical, electrical or instrumentation
technology
Preferred Qualifications:
• 5+ years experience in the operations and maintenance of treatment facilities
• Wastewater Treatment Operator certification in MA or ability to obtain within
2 years
• Ability to analyze operating data and develop plan for process adjustments
• Proficiency in all aspects of computer operations including operating and
maintenance systems, compliance sampling, word processing and spreadsheet
application.
• Demonstrated expertise in the principles of safe work practices and principles
and related state and federal laws and regulations, including emergency response
management.
• Proficiency in regulatory monitoring, reporting, analytical data management,
and internal permit management.

SUPERFUND WASTEWATER TREATMENT OPERATOR
Assigned to a superfund groundwater treatment facility located in Holbrook, MA.
This individual will operate, monitor, and inspect wastewater treatment plant
operational equipment, processes and systems. Performs assigned
maintenance functions as part of a team under the direction of the Chief
Operator. This position also operates equipment manually and through instrument
panel and programmable logic control units. Equipment may include, but will not
be limited to the following; pumps, valves, meters, gauges, controllers, motor
control centers, level controls
devices, mixers, polymer and potassium permanganate feed systems, filter press,
etc. Fulltime position, day shift only, some weekend coverage required.
Overtime work available.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Requires a High school diploma, additional college experience desirable but
not
necessary.
* Experience with a working knowledge of water/wastewater treatment and
treatment
plant equipment.
* A valid Massachusetts Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Grade 4-I
certification
(Grade 5 preferred)

John Todd Ecological Design, Inc. [JTED] is looking to immediately hire a qualified Grade 4-M licensed operator for the daily operations of a 27,500 gpd wastewater treatment facility located in Ipswich, MA. The wastewater treatment system uses living plants in aquatic tanks, along with a subsurface flow wetland and UV disinfection for treatment.
Job responsibilities will include working closely with JTED staff, along with the maintenance staff for the owner of the treatment facility, to ensure the plant’s proper operation.
This is a full time job, [M – F 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.] which sometimes includes weekend work and being on-call for emergencies. Operational responsibility includes, but is not limited, to the following:
1) Sampling of monitoring wells and wastewater using composite samplers, Quanta systems, peristaltic pumps, and proper record keeping techniques.
2) Testing and monitoring the water on-site for Alkalinity, pH, Ammonia, DO, Nitrate, and Settleability
3) Backwashing sandfilters, housekeeping, vegetation care, giving tours, cleaning and repairing an Ultraviolet Disinfection unit, and other misc. tasks
4) Preparing weekly reports for JTED along with Monthly, Quarterly, and Semi-Annual reports for the Massachusetts DEP
Must have good math, computer, and writing skills. Knowledge of extended aeration and RAS systems a plus. Salary commensurate with experience.
